A Day in the Life at Option Care Health

Under the direction of a licensed Pharmacist, the Compounding Technician II works in a clean room 50% of the time to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient compounding operations.

• Assists pharmacist with preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with OCH policies, procedures, state regulations, and standards.
• Prepares medications so they are accurately compounded.
• Performs basic pharmaceutical calculations to obtain correct dosages.
• Ensures quality standards by reviewing and inspecting compounded and packaged medications.
• Ensures all compounding and packaging is inspected and approved by a licensed pharmacist.

• Maintains pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods, ensuring they are cleaned and sanitized.
• Calibrates equipment to maintain accurate functionality.
• Records and maintains pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs.

• Trains and mentors Compounding Technician I’s.

Does not include supervisory responsibilities.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
• License or registration as required by state (if applicable).

• Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, meeting quality standards and evaluating satisfaction.
• Ability to perform basic and intermediate level mathematical calculations.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Capacity to carry up to 30 lbs.

Previous healthcare or pharmacy technician experience is preferred. May perform other duties as assigned.

Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity; currently ranges from $20.47 to $34.13 per hour.
