Associate Pastor of Discipleship Faith Church

Faith Church in Milford, Ohio is seeking an Associate Pastor of Discipleship.

Reports to:

Lead Pastor and Elders

Responsible for:
Ministry Hour adult classes, membership, community groups, and children’s ministry.

Purpose of the Position:
To give spiritual leadership to Faith Church, in collaboration with the pastors and elders, with a special focus on strengthening the church’s culture of discipleship.

• Experience:
  
  Previous ministry experience in a local church, preferably as a vocational pastor. Working in unity with church elders and honoring their spiritual leadership, counsel, and accountability.
• Character:
  Holy, humble, honest, prayerful, trustworthy, mature, and faithful. Life aligns closely with Biblical standards for elders (Titus 1:6-9; 1 Timothy 3:1-7). Displays fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and consistently thankful to God.
• Passion:
  Loves Christ passionately, embraces and teaches a proper view of sin, Christ‑only salvation, and the centrality of Scripture for godliness and effective ministry. Encourages a healthy, biblical vision for the local church.
• Gifts and Strengths: A man who is gifted in teaching, equipping, shepherding, and compassion.
• Theology:
  Formal Biblical training (preferably seminary), agreement with Faith Church’s Statement of Faith (identical to the Evangelical Free Church of America). Embraces and teaches a high view of God—His sovereignty, holiness, and grace.
• Philosophy of Ministry:
  Able to articulate and lead from a Bible‑shaped, Gospel‑centered philosophy that sees the local church as God’s vehicle for advancing His cause on earth. Aligns with Faith Church’s distinctives and ministers according to the sufficiency of God’s Word.

• Foster a disciple‑making culture in the life of the church.
• Lead the Membership process, including a membership class, elder interviews, and managing the Membership Directory.
• Lead the Equipping Hour (Sunday School) focused on equipping the saints—teach and train adults, recruit, train, and provide leadership for growing teachers.
• Oversee the community group ministry (small groups); develop and coach new leaders and help place new members into groups.
• Provide pastoral oversight to children’s ministry; give direction to staff caring for babies and children.
• Shepherd, nurture, and pray for the flock.
• Lead the Sunday morning service regularly.
• Preach approximately 6–8 times a year.
• Perform other pastoral duties such as weddings, funerals, hospital visitation, and other tasks as assigned, in partnership with the Lead Pastor.

• Qualifications for an elder as found in Scripture (Titus 1:6-9; 1 Timothy 3:1-7).
• BA/BS from an accredited college or university.
• MDiv or higher degree from an accredited seminary (highly desirable).
• Demonstrated pastoral experience in a local church (highly desirable).
