The Opportunity

CACI is seeking an experienced Generator Mechanic, Journeyman to support power generation and expeditionary infrastructure operations across the Indo-Pacific. The Generator Mechanic, Journeyman serves as CACI’s technical professional responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting tactical and commercial power generation equipment supporting logistics, mission support, facilities, Joint Theater Distribution Centers (JTDCs), Intermediate Staging Bases (ISBs), communications systems, and expeditionary operations.

Reporting directly to the Facilities Operations Manager, this position ensures reliable electrical power generation supporting mission-critical Government operations in fixed and deployed environments.

The Generator Mechanic works closely with Government stakeholders, electrical engineers, electricians, utilities specialists, facilities managers, communications personnel, logistics planners, equipment manufacturers, and mission partners to maintain generators, transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and associated electrical distribution equipment. This position contributes to successful program execution by maximizing equipment availability, improving infrastructure reliability, and ensuring uninterrupted power support throughout the Indo-Pacific theater.

Responsibilities
  • Install, operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul tactical and commercial diesel, gasoline, and hybrid generator systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling systems, load banks, voltage regulators, and associated support equipment.
  • Conduct operational testing, load bank testing, and performance evaluations to verify generator readiness and reliability.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, cooling, lubrication, and control system failures using technical manuals and diagnostic equipment.
  • Support installation and sustainment of expeditionary power systems supporting warehouses, JTDCs, ISBs, command posts, communications sites, and mission support facilities.
  • Coordinate generator maintenance schedules to minimize operational downtime and maintain mission readiness.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, parts inventories, and equipment lifecycle documentation.
  • Coordinate procurement of repair parts, consumables, fuel system components, and maintenance supplies.
  • Support contingency operations, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and emergent missions requiring rapid deployment of power generation capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense maintenance standards, environmental regulations, fuel handling procedures, and electrical safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with electricians, utilities specialists, civil engineers, and facility managers during infrastructure installation and modernization projects.
  • Maintain generator configuration records, equipment histories, technical manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Train Government personnel on generator operation, preventive maintenance, and emergency power procedures.
  • Promote operational safety, preventive maintenance, energy resilience, and continuous process improvement supporting expeditionary power systems.
  • Support geographically dispersed and austere operational locations requiring reliable emergency and primary power generation capabilities.
