Civil Engineer V performs difficult professional engineering work in supervising and participating in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects.
What You Will DoGeneral duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervising preliminary and final surveys
- Designing structures such as reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways, etc.
- Assigning subordinate engineers and inspectors to construction projects
- Settling disputes between contractors and inspectors
- Approving construction changes

- Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) – Capital Projects Division
- Two (2) vacancies in Design & Plan Review Branch
- One (1) vacancy in Construction Management Pipeline Section
- Department of Design and Construction (DDC)

- Vacancy in Structural Support Section (bridge improvements, earth movement, slope stabilization, guardrail and roadway safety improvements; project planning, design, construction coordination, plan & specification review, consultant and contractor oversight, interagency coordination, budget and schedule monitoring)

- Two (2) vacancies in Civil Division
- Department of Environmental Services (ENV)

Actual salary commensurate with applicable experience, pending approval.

Education RequirementEquivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.
Experience RequirementOne year of registered professional civil engineering experience.
License RequirementNOTE:
Applicants with a current out-of-state professional Civil Engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
