About the Position
Serves as the Air Traffic Control Chief planning and directing air traffic control operations. Position qualifies for 5% premium pay for Air Traffic Controllers.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

One year of specialized experience which includes directing Air Traffic Control operations and personnel, developing airfield contingency plans, and acting as a liaison on matters of airspace and air traffic control. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also be a graduate of a DoD component or FAA approved formal Air Traffic Controller school and possess Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) and Control Tower Operator (CTO) certification.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Maximum Entry Age:
Employees hired for the first time ("originally hired") into GS-2152 positions must not exceed the established Maximum Entry Age (MEA) at the time of appointment. The MEA for an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) is 36. An employee originally hired into a covered ATC position must be hired by the last day of the month he/she reaches 36 unless a waiver from Department of Army is approved prior to appointment.
As this is a Special Retirement covered ATC position, your application package must include a government-issued document indicating your date of birth.
