- Highways, Motor Vehicle Safety Office, State of Hawaii.

The Department of Human Resources Development
- State Recruiting Office will refer all inquiries regarding this recruitment to the DOT Personnel Office.

Directs the DOT’s automated enforcement programs. This position plans, directs and coordinates statewide activities relating to the automated enforcement programs; develops rules and regulations dealing with highway safety and monitors compliance; coordinates the State’s automated enforcement program plan with other agencies; promotes the program as well as highway safety; and performs other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Thorough knowledge of highway safety laws, standards, rules and regulations; jurisdictions and functions of various governmental agencies involved in highway safety activities; trends and development in highway safety; principles and practices of supervision.

Plan and develop projects in various areas of automated enforcement/highway safety and develop operational procedures; learn, interpret and apply legislation; isolate, analyze and evaluate factors in automated enforcement/highway safety; prepare federal and State budget reports; formulate ideas and express them clearly both orally and in writing; develop and maintain effective working relationships; and effectively resolve inter-jurisdictional issues and problems.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Progressively responsible experience totaling two (2) years of experience involving the evaluation, planning, development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of varied statewide highway safety projects and activities; the preparation or evaluation of rules and regulations and legislative bills related to highway safety; and the promotion of highway safety.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, at the time of appointment.
