We are seeking a highly skilled Jira Senior Developer to lead the design, development, customization, and administration of Jira and associated Atlassian tools. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Jira workflows, plugin development, system integrations, Jira Service Management, and Issue SYNC for Service Now to support enterprise service management transformations. This role will work closely with developers, architects, business stakeholders, and service management teams to deliver scalable solutions, support migration from Service Now to Jira Service Management, streamline processes, and ensure the stability and efficiency of the Atlassian ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain complex Jira workflows, custom fields, screens, permission schemes, notification schemes, and JSM request types.
- Support end-to-end migration from Service Now to Jira Service Management, including discovery, service catalog assessment, field mapping, workflow translation, data migration planning, validation, cutover support, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Design and implement phased coexistence and migration strategies using Deviniti Issue SYNC for Service Now to enable controlled synchronization between Service Now and Jira Service Management during transition periods.
- Configure Deviniti Issue SYNC connections, synchronization contexts, and unique configurations for multiple queues, projects, issue types, and service scenarios across Service Now and JSM.
- Define and maintain field mappings between Service Now and Jira Service Management, including request types, descriptions, statuses, comments, attachments, and custom fields, with appropriate transformation logic and business rules.
- Configure synchronization direction for create and update events, and manage comment and attachment synchronization based on business and operational requirements.
- Create custom mapping approaches and conversion logic to align Service Now data objects with Jira issues, requests, and workflows while minimizing data distortion or loss.
- Analyze existing Service Now processes, forms, approval flows, ticket categories, and SLA models, and redesign them as scalable Jira Service Management solutions.
- Integrate Jira with third-party systems and internal tools using REST APIs, webhooks, Deviniti apps, and other integration methods.
- Administer and maintain Jira, Jira Service Management, and other Atlassian tools such as Confluence, including performance tuning, system upgrades, and license management.
- Ensure platform reliability, data integrity, security, auditability, and scalability throughout migration and post-migration operations.
- Monitor synchronization health, diagnose sync failures, troubleshoot mapping issues, and resolve migration-related defects within SLA timelines.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers, administrators, and migration workstream members.
- Conduct code reviews and promote adherence to Atlassian development and service management best practices.
- Automate workflows and repetitive tasks using built-in Jira features, Deviniti Issue SYNC capabilities, or custom scripts.
- Work closely with developers, product owners, project managers, architects, service desk leads, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective Jira and JSM-based solutions.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering synchronization designs, field-mapping matrices, migration configurations, reconciliation procedures, test cases, runbooks, and SDLC processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence administration, configuration, customization, and development.
- Hands‑on experience with Deviniti Issue SYNC for Service Now, including connection setup, configuration management, synchronization rules, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience supporting or leading migration initiatives from Service Now to Jira Service Management, including process assessment, field mapping, workflow redesign, and data validation.
