ResponsibilitiesAs a Civil Engineer/Construction Inspector - EIT, you will oversee municipal utility, road, and sidewalk projects, collaborating closely with the Project Manager, local agencies/owners, and contractors to ensure projects meet approved plans, specifications, and jurisdictional standards.
- Comprehensive Inspection: Thoroughly inspect all facets of municipal utility, road, and sidewalk projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.
- Detailed Documentation: Maintain meticulous records by documenting the Contractor's work through daily inspection reports and project photographs.
- Contract Management: Keep an accurate log of contract days used and remaining, verify daily quantities of work, and provide weekly quantity reports to the Owner.
- Resource Management: Maintain precise records of personnel, equipment, and materials used in force account activities.
- Change Order Review: Review change order requests to facilitate a smooth process for necessary modifications.
- Material Verification: Verify that materials delivered to the job site match approved submittals.
- Proactive Conflict Resolution: Conduct pre‑project walks to identify potential unforeseen conflicts and address them proactively.
- Safety Advocacy: Advise the Contractor of any insufficient traffic control measures or unsafe work conditions.
- Testing Coordination: Coordinate scheduling for soils, asphalt, and concrete testing as required.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with local residents to mitigate the impact of construction on their daily lives.
- As‑Built Records: Maintain accurate as‑built record drawings for the project.
- Communication: Keep the Owner informed about work progress and field issues as they arise.
- Schedule Management: Work closely with the Contractor to provide updated schedules to the Owner as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a four‑year college or university.
- 1–4 years of experience in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
- Ability to work hours dictated by the Contractor’s schedule on short notice.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Typical base compensation: $33.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience, licensure, and other factors.
