Cost Accounting Manager

Our client, a consumer products company, is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to oversee inventory and cost accounting activities while supporting a growing business.

Mill Valley, CA. Hybrid - in office 3 days per week.

This role will serve as a key partner to Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain teams, helping ensure accurate inventory reporting and driving process improvements across the organization.

• Manage inventory accounting, cost accounting, and related financial reporting processes.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Analyze inventory balances, cost of goods sold, reserves, and operational variances.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate product costing and inventory management.
• Review inventory transactions and support inventory tracking and reconciliation activities.
• Drive process improvements across inventory and cost accounting functions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and financial visibility.
• Support external audits and prepare required documentation.
• Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory-related projects.
• Leverage technology and automation tools to improve efficiency, reporting, and analysis.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or a related accounting function.
• Strong experience working with ERP systems and large data sets.
• Proven analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, and business insights.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation is determined based on experience, location, and market factors. The employee may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and participate in medical, dental, vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
