Our client, a consumer products company, is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to oversee inventory and cost accounting activities while supporting a growing business.

Location: Mill Valley, CA. The position is hybrid, with in‑office expectations 3 days/week.

Job Description: This role will serve as a key partner to Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain teams, helping ensure accurate inventory reporting and driving process improvements across the organization.

• Manage inventory accounting, cost accounting, and related financial reporting processes.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Analyze inventory balances, cost of goods sold, reserves, and operational variances.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate product costing and inventory management.
• Review inventory transactions and support inventory tracking and reconciliation activities.
• Drive process improvements across inventory and cost accounting functions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and financial visibility.
• Support external audits and prepare required documentation.
• Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory‑related projects.
• Leverage technology and automation tools to improve efficiency, reporting, and analysis.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or a related accounting function.
• Strong experience working with ERP systems and large data sets.
• Proven analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, and business insights.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional teams.
