English Instructor

Millbrook School seeks an English teacher beginning in the fall of 2026. This position can be structured as either part-time or full-time depending on the schedule you can commit to. Full-time teaching responsibilities will include three sections of English III and one section of an upperform English elective. Candidates should be prepared to teach students of all high school age levels.

Prior teaching experience is preferred. B.A. in English or a related field is required.

Energy for adolescents, adaptability, humor, and integrity are the hallmarks of Millbrook's faculty. Full-time faculty members are also expected to participate in two seasons of coaching or the equivalent, community service, evening responsibilities, activities, assemblies, attend required meetings and workshops, and serve as an advisor for up to six students. Housing may be provided and would include residential life duties.

The salary range for a full-time position is $42,000-$90,000, and $30,000-$38,000 for part-time. The salary range for part-time roles is pro-rated, and the exact salary will be determined based on the final agreed-upon weekly schedule and workload requirements. When determining placement in the salary range, Millbrook School considers the percentage of a full-time role, total teaching experience, number of years working at Millbrook School, and other factors permitted by law.

  Attend assemblies on designated mornings throughout the school year.
• Evening Responsibility:
  Faculty who live in housing provided by the school will have an evening responsibility.
• Activities:
  
  All faculty support our weekend programming for assigned weekends.
• Advising:
  All faculty are expected to have between one and six advisees per year, to communicate regularly with advisees’ families, and to write three advisor letters for each over the course of the year. The advisor is the primary resource for a student and their parents or guardians, acts as a mentor, and shepherds the student’s growth over their time isors meet weekly with advisees on Tuesdays during alternating seated lunches and meeting times and schedule additional time as needed.
  
  Advisors must be in regular contact with the parents or guardians and keep them informed of their child’s progress. Advisors should also communicate proactively with colleagues about their advisee.
• Miscellaneous:
  Share in all other boarding school responsibilities including extra help, assembly, formal dinner, department meetings, faculty meetings, orientation programs, award assemblies, trustee and parent weekends, workshops, and additional duties as determined. All faculty are also expected to assist with opening days, winter weekend, and commencement weekend.

• Bachelor’s degree in the subject being taught or a related field.
