The director of annual giving and engagement reports directly to the director of advancement. This position is charged with managing Millbrook’s Annual Fund program to increase participation and fundraising dollars for the school. This role will lead the Annual Fund as we look to increase overall fundraising to $3M+ each year.
Annual giving has always been the centerpiece of philanthropy at the Millbrook; it is a central pillar of every capital campaign, including the current FOR ALL campaign, with an AF target of $20 million as part of the overall $150M million effort.
The director of annual giving and engagement will manage a portfolio of top-level Annual Fund and campaign donors, developing and implementing tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies. This position requires regular travel to meet with donors and strengthen relationships that drive leadership-level support for Millbrook.
This role will manage the director of alumni engagement and the director of parent engagement and leadership giving, and in partnership will execute programs to enhance engagement (value‑add events, networking, speaker series, parent luncheons, volunteer programs, contact‑a‑thons, reunions, etc.). These events will focus on serving alumni and parents to increase overall event and giving participation and raise critical funds in support of the Annual Fund and the school’s comprehensive capital campaign.
In collaboration with the director of advancement, the director of annual giving and engagement will set and meet a variety of goals based on institutional priorities, including engagement and philanthropic support.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the director of advancement to execute a dynamic, yearly solicitation plan that inspires alumni, parents, past parents, and friends to give to the Annual Fund.
- Collaborate with the director of advancement and campaign manager to execute a dynamic, yearly stewardship program.
- Manage all Annual Fund campaigns, direct mail, and Phone/Contact/Thank‑A‑Thon efforts in partnership with the Communications Office.
- Manage all parent and alumni volunteer fundraising committees.
- Cultivate and solicit a prospect pool of top‑level $25,000+ prospects.
- Assist the director and associate director of principal and leadership gifts, as needed, in the research, cultivation, and solicitation of leadership donors.
- Participate in department‑wide events with other advancement staff members.
- Manage and collaborate with the director of alumni engagement to develop an annual strategic outreach plan that includes networking, mentoring, regional, and affinity events to enhance the school’s relationships with its alumni and build a broader base of alumni engagement and philanthropic support.
- Manage and collaborate with the director of alumni engagement to redesign and implement a more robust Alumni Association to better engage, cultivate, and steward top‑level Millbrook alumni.
- Manage and collaborate with the director of alumni engagement to design and implement VIth form student programming to better illustrate the value of staying involved and giving back to Millbrook after graduation.
- Manage and collaborate with the director of alumni engagement to develop and maintain an active class agent program that focuses on alumni engagement and giving.
- Lead and grow the Sixth Form Gift initiative, alongside the director of parent engagement and leadership giving, a hallmark program that raises $400K+ each year in support of the Annual Fund, managing volunteers and traveling to visit with key donors.
- Lead and grow the reunion fundraising program so that each milestone reunion has a unique experience and strategic fundraising plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
