Summary

The Market & Business Intelligence Analyst works in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, conducting extensive research on current and potential clients. The analyst analyzes search results, compiles reports, and evaluates the firm’s clients, prospects, key industries, competitors, and new markets.

Location

This position can be based in any of DLA Piper’s offices in Reston, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Raleigh, San Diego, Seattle, Short Hills, Washington DC, or Wilmington, and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Identify market trends, industry developments, client movements, and relevant client news to provide information for the firm’s marketing and business development department, attorneys, firm leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct extensive research on current and potential clients using web sources and internal data to identify potential cross‑selling and targeting opportunities.
  • Analyze search results, compile reports, and provide written executive summaries that support the firm’s business development and competitive advantage initiatives.
  • Analyze the firm’s clients, prospects, key industries serviced, and competitors to identify new markets, support client pitches, and provide information for responding to RFPs.
  • Assist management in developing a highly functioning global competitive intelligence research and business analysis group by contributing ideas, suggestions, and using tools not typically found in a law firm.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills

Must have strong analytical skills to gather, analyze, and interpret a variety of data. Knowledge of the legal market and competitors is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with staff at all levels. Experience using AI tools for research, fluency in data gathering and analysis, and proficiency with Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx are desired.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Market Research, Business Analytics, Business, Library Services, or a related field.
Preferred Education
  • Master’s Degree (MBA, MS, MLIS, or related). A plus.
Minimum Years of Experience
  • 3 years of experience in marketing research or knowledge services.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and general sedentary duties. Work may involve sitting most of the time, with occasional walking and standing.

Work Environment

A hybrid arrangement may involve remote and in‑office work, determined in coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor and may be modified by the firm.

Salary and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $80,348 – $117,111 per year, depending on geographic location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
