Position: Tax Senior (Family Office) - $110K + Bonus

Henderson Harbor Tax was established in 2009 as a specialized tax placement division of Henderson Harbor Group. Over the past 17 years, HHTax has successfully leveraged our vast network of tax professionals and our targeted industry knowledge to successfully advise careers and place professionals at every level from Tax Associates to Chief Tax Officers, and Tax Partners, in both private industry and public accounting.

We service our clients primarily in the New York Metro area, as well as nationally through our AAFA network (45 financial staffing affiliates throughout the U.S. and Canada).

HHTax is seeking a talented tax senior to join one of their family office clients located in the Short Hills, NJ area, specializing in serving the family members and their closely held businesses. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of tax-focused projects, ensuring compliance and providing exceptional service to our clients

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted tax advisor to high-net-worth individuals and families, providing proactive guidance on complex personal, business, and wealth planning matters
  • Advise family members and closely held businesses on tax-efficient strategies designed to optimize overall tax outcomes and support long-term financial and wealth objectives
  • Provide consultative guidance on the tax implications of trusts and estates, charitable giving, wealth transfers, and succession planning
  • Advise on the tax considerations associated with domestic and international investments, business activities, and other complex financial transactions
  • Partner with family members and their external advisors, including attorneys, investment professionals, and other financial advisors, to coordinate integrated tax and wealth planning strategies
  • Advise on and support IRS and state tax audits, serving as a key point of contact and providing strategic guidance throughout the process
  • Research complex tax issues and translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for family members and other stakeholders
  • Support tax-focused special projects, identifying opportunities to enhance tax efficiency, preserve wealth, and achieve family members' personal and financial objectives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
    Master’s in Taxation or CPA certification is highly preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in public accounting or a wealth management tax role
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations, particularly in individual and business taxation
  • Experience working with HNW individuals and their businesses
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and tools; familiarity with [specific software, if applicable, e.g., Pro System fx, Ultra Tax, etc.]
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
