Business Analyst (Commercial Specialty Underwriting) – Remote
Join NTT DATA North America as a Business Analyst in the Commercial Specialty Underwriting team. We’re looking for an experienced analyst who can bridge underwriting strategy and technology to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Responsibilities- Partner closely with Commercial Underwriters and leadership to understand current‑state and future‑state underwriting processes for Habitation General Liability (GL), Management Liability, Excess (XS) Casualty, and more.
- Lead requirements elicitation through interviews, workshops, and working sessions with underwriting stakeholders.
- Develop clear, comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) covering objectives, scope, functional/non‑functional requirements, data requirements, business rules, underwriting decision logic, and regulatory considerations.
- Translate underwriting workflows and risk assessment needs into structured, unambiguous requirements for technology, product, and delivery teams.
- Maintain end‑to‑end requirements traceability from business need through design, development, testing, and UAT.
- Act as the primary liaison between underwriting and IT/delivery teams to ensure alignment throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support solution design reviews, validate that proposed solutions meet underwriting requirements, and participate in UAT planning and execution.
- Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for workflow optimization and automation within underwriting operations.
- Manage requirement changes, assess downstream impacts, and communicate updates clearly to all stakeholders.
- Minimum 5 + years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within insurance or financial services.
- Minimum 3 + years of hands‑on experience supporting Commercial Underwriting teams.
- Proven experience authoring detailed BRDs for complex underwriting or system transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of Commercial Lines underwriting, including risk assessment, rating and pricing concepts, underwriting rules and decision frameworks.
- Experience working on underwriting system implementations or modernization programs.
- Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder facilitation skills; ability to work independently and directly with underwriting stakeholders.
- Travel:
Minimal to moderate travel may be required based on project needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with underwriting platforms or client solutions such as Federato, Duck Creek, or similar systems.
- Experience in Agile and/or Waterfall delivery environments.
- Business Analysis certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, or equivalent.
- Exposure to underwriting transformation, workflow automation, or digital modernization initiatives.
For this remote role, the starting hourly range is $50.15 – $60.28 /hour on W‑2. Actual compensation will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications.
