Job OverviewIn support of the development of Corporate Security Team as a service line, and in support of the Corporate Security mission “to compassionately protect and help the people, property, and quality of our health system, together”, the Executive Protection Specialist, will provide safe and efficient transport and protection services for senior leadership/management as requested. Transportation is provided to designated/requested locations avoiding any possible harm to the executive in the transfer process.
The EP Specialist will also be responsible for law enforcement liaison, special event security, and physical security responsibilities as needed and will be armed.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ten years prior law enforcement, military service, or professional executive protection.
- Possession of a valid New Jersey Driver’s License with eligibility to be covered by RWJBH insurance carrier. All out of state driver license’s need to have their driver’s license and registration transferred to New Jersey state within 60 days of hire.
- Must possess a valid Retired Police Officer permit to carry a firearm/handgun in accordance with the New Jersey Retired Law Enforcement Permit to Carry a Handgun Law and Retired Law Enforcement Officer Program (RPO).
- Must have and maintain a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Level 2 Armed Security Officer license.
- Must have a New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun.
- Must possess a Level Three Retention Holster for their approved handgun and only use said holster while working.
- A minimum of five years prior law enforcement experience or military service required.
- Ability to acquire certification for de-escalation training within ninety (90) days of hire.
Preferred:
- A minimum of one (1) year of customer service, security experience, or prior military service preferred.
- Proficiency in keyboarding/data entry and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong command over verbal and written communication.
- Bilingual language skills to effectively communicate with a multilingual community preferred but not required. (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish depending on facility needs.)

- Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain a secure environment for healthcare operations, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts as required.
- Transport executives and approved passengers to and from corporate facilities, affiliate facilities, special events, and specified locations within local and outlying areas. Maintain good levels of interpersonal skills to exchange information, answer questions, interact with senior executives and greet passengers.
- Have highly technical driving skills, expertise in driving regulations, knowledge in executive protection, and knowledge of basic automobile mechanics.
- Experience partnering with local, state, and federal law enforcement.
- Have problem solving skills to handle and prioritize executive’s requests vs. other duties.
- Must be results/goal oriented, decision maker and strategic planner with critical thinking capabilities.

- Must have the ability to function and use sound judgment in high profile situations.
- Must be in excellent physical condition and be fit to perform duties including having vision correctable to 20/40, good peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision, have adequate hearing, and ease in shoulder and head mobility for defensive driving practices.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a first aid, CPR, and AED Certifications as well as a de-escalation training certification.
- Provide professional customer service while vigilantly watching for and addressing potential security threats.
- Manage access control systems, perform data entry, and utilize Microsoft Office for incident reporting and administrative tasks.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively engage with a diverse population.
- EPS must comply with all applicable federal and state laws concerning the possession and use of firearms/handgun, including, but not limited to, the State of New Jersey Firearms Qualification and Requalification Standards. This includes qualification as well as a thorough knowledge of (a) N.J.S.A 2C:3-1, et. seq. (New Jersey Code of Criminal Justice); (b) N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5 (Unlawful Possession of Weapons);and (c) 45:19A-1 (the Security Officer Registration Act).
