The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. Compensation offered will depend on factors such as educational background, skills and experience.

In support of the development of the Corporate Security Team as a service line, and in support of the Corporate Security mission “to compassionately protect and help the people, property, and quality of our health system, together”, the Armed Security Officer will be instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by monitoring and patrolling our facilities.

Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while providing assistance with de‑escalating disruptive incidents, responding to emergencies, offering personal protection, and providing traffic and parking control as needed. The ASO may also be responsible for law‑enforcement liaison, special event security and physical security duties as required.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Valid New Jersey Retired Police Officer (RPO) Permit to Carry Handgun.
• Valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Level 2 armed security officer license.
• Level Three Retention Holster for the approved handgun, used only while working.
• Five years prior law‑enforcement or military service.
• Ability to remain stationary up to 8 hours and walk throughout the facility 6‑8 hours per day.
• Minimum hearing of 40 decibels in either ear with or without hearing aid.
• Required safety equipment such as N95 respirator.
• First aid, CPR, AED and de‑escalation training certification.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written).
• Bilingual skills (depending on facility) strongly preferred.

• Variable 8‑hour shifts.

• Protect life, property, information and reputation through situational awareness; monitor and secure designated entrances/exits; observe flow of employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors; verify credentials and provide directions to authorized areas.
• Ability to remain stationary up to 8 hours and walk throughout the facility 6‑8 hours per day.
• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Minimum hearing of 40 decibels in either ear with or without hearing aid.
• Evaluate and respond promptly to events and incidents in accordance with system policies.
• Respond immediately or appropriately to emergency/unusual situations including disturbances, disruptive employees, patients, vendors & visitors, fires and medical emergencies (including restraints in accordance with policy).
• Function and use sound judgment in high‑profile situations, including oral and written communication.
• Comply with the State of New Jersey Firearms Qualification and Requalification Standards and related code sections.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
