POSITIONOVERVIEW
We are seeking a hands‑on Sr Materials & Composites Engineer to support the development of advanced fiber‑reinforced systems for aerospace, defense, and extreme environment applications, including ablative and high-temperature composite structures.
You will work at the intersection of:
- Fiber and textile structural design
- Polymer and resin system design
- Prepreg/Composite processing and performance evaluation
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collaborate with customers and Sales to gather and analyze material requirements and specifications.
- Design and develop fiber‑reinforced composite systems.
- Design and formulate polymer matrices.
- Evaluate and select fiber/fabric reinforcements.
- Conduct and analyze curing and process optimization, mechanical performance, and thermal and fire behavior.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams to scale, qualify, and commercialize composite prepreg solutions.
- Provide technical application support to sales, marketing, and customers.
- Bachelor’s degree related to composites technology, such as materials science and engineering, polymer chemistry and engineering, or a related field; advanced degree desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in composites, including polymeric matrices formulation, fabrication, material testing, lab‑scale development, and fiber or textile handling.
- Solid understanding of thermoset resins and engineering thermoplastics used in high‑temperature applications.
- Familiarity with fibers and textiles such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, ceramics, and aramids.
- Application knowledge of ablatives or thermal protection systems is a strong plus.
- Travel as needed; up to 10–20% travel may be required.
This position requires both office work and the ability to work in a material manufacturing and warehouse environment. The position will require frequent sitting, during office work, and walking and standing for long periods while working with the operations team which is located within three separate buildings at the site.
