Barrday, a manufacturer of composite materials, is in search of a Quality Lab Technician.
Barrday is a leading advanced materials solutions company with an international manufacturing and sales presence. Our product lines encompass applications for the composite and protective markets. We are headquartered outside of Toronto, Canada in Cambridge, ON, with manufacturing facilities in Charlotte, NC and Millbury, MA. Our success is based on developing technologically advanced fiber reinforcement, prepreg and other material solutions for our customers in the aerospace, defense, industrial, energy and protective markets.
OverviewThe Quality Technician will conduct performance quality testing using various equipment and methods. The technician will have strong communication skills to effectively transfer information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Physical and mechanical testing including resin characteristics, weave distortion, tensile strength, compressive strength, interlaminar shear, etc.
- Prepare, set-up and run a variety of tests and pieces of test equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Completing and sending certification documents to the customer.
- Completing and updating required quality documentation.
- Updating and maintaining records in ERP system.
- Updating quality data, including physical test data, mechanical test data, and inspection data.
- Share acquired skills with colleagues through training.
- Use of measurement tools, machining equipment, and chemicals.
- Investigating quality issues, including root cause analysis and NCR closure.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training, apprenticeship and/or machining experience will be an asset.
- At least 3 years of quality or analytical experience or equivalent degree preferred
- Must be able to read and receive instructions in English.
- Ability to work under pressure for extended periods of time to meet requirements of a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Fluency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven problem-solving ability.
- Effective multitasking required.
- Strong team player who is self-directed.
- Experience working in a machine shop is a plus.
- Manufacturing setting.
- Continuous periods of standing and walking required.
- Considerable lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools and machines).
- May include cutting and the use of sharp tools.
- Machining equipment.
- Use of chemicals and solvents with provided PPE.
