Service Electrician

We are seeking an experienced, licensed electrician to join our Water and Wastewater Service Division. This position is intended for an electrician with strong troubleshooting abilities who can work independently and respond to the electrical and control-system needs of municipal and industrial customers throughout Central Massachusetts and the surrounding region.

The successful candidate will service, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment associated with water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and related industrial operations. • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems at water and wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations.
• Diagnose problems involving motors, pumps, motor starters, contractors, relays, variable-frequency drives, control panels, instrumentation, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, including field devices, inputs, outputs, communication issues, and associated control wiring.
• Install and service electrical distribution equipment, control panels, conduit, wiring, disconnects, transformers, generators, and related systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, testing, and emergency repairs.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, ladder diagrams, equipment manuals, and specifications.
• Coordinate directly with plant operators, municipal personnel, vendors, engineers, and other members of the service team.
• Clearly document service work, materials used, equipment conditions, and recommended repairs through the company’s field-service management system.
• Identify additional repairs, upgrades, or preventive-maintenance needs and communicate them to the customer and service management.
• Maintain an organized company vehicle and ensure that tools, materials, and test equipment are properly maintained.
• Follow all company and customer safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures and rules governing work in operating treatment facilities.
• Participate in scheduled emergency and after-hours service coverage when necessary.

• Valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Experience servicing electrical systems in water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, industrial facilities, or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of three-phase power, motors, motor controls, VFDs, control wiring, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to use electrical testing and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize service calls, and make sound decisions in the field.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to complete accurate service documentation and use mobile field-service technology.
• Willingness to travel throughout the company’s service territory and respond to occasional emergency calls.

• PLC and HMI troubleshooting or programming experience.
• Experience with SCADA systems, telemetry, instrumentation, flow meters, level controls, and process-control equipment.
• Experience with generators, transfer switches, pump controls, and standby power systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Additional electrical licenses in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine.
