Licensure
  • Hold a Utah Special Education teaching license
  • Hold an out‑of‑state Special Education teaching license
  • New graduates from teacher preparation programs: upload a conferral letter on official university letterhead that includes degree earned, anticipated graduation date, and type of license and content areas for Utah State Board of Education recommendation
  • Be officially graduated before the position start date; provide official copy of license and degree at hire

Job Summary

Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher creates a positive learning environment where students develop critical thinking, problem solving, lifelong learning, and productivity. Teachers maintain a safe environment, establish rapport with stakeholders, motivate students, differentiate curriculum, and use research‑based instruction. Implement Proficiency‑Based Grading and the Granite Way.

Essential Functions
  • Teach core content areas of the USBE Core Curriculum and other approved learning activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt curriculum to students’ needs.
  • Employ effective teaching techniques to translate lesson plans into productive student learning experiences.
  • Utilize computers and technological classroom support equipment in instruction.
  • Supervise students indoors and outdoors, including recess and gymnasium activities, in all weather and air quality.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior through organization and discipline strategies.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth; maintain records and prepare progress reports.
  • Implement Proficiency‑Based Learning in evaluating students.
  • Implement the Granite Way.
  • Communicate with parents via conferences, phones, e‑mails, student planners, school website, and other appropriate means to discuss progress.
