Utah International Charter School is a unique small secondary school currently in Millcreek close to Salt Lake City. Our mission is to give English learners full access to a rigorous secondary curriculum by providing content-based, sheltered English instruction in every class, and to empower refugees, immigrants and American-born students with collaboration skills, critical-thinking skills, and diverse global perspectives. We are seeking a highly qualified social studies teacher to join the Utah International team for the 2026-27 school year.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement accessible and challenging curriculum and daily lessons in social studies for middle school students.
  • Collaborate with grade level cohort teachers and implement lessons designed to meet Utah International’s Advisory program standards.
  • Manage a caring, respectful, student-centered classroom.
  • Employ restorative practices in line with the school’s mission to foster a restorative learning environment in every classroom.
  • Plan and implement a culturally relevant curriculum to work effectively with diverse English language learners.
  • Use sheltered English strategies to integrate English language and make content accessible to all students.
  • Differentiation lessons to give access to content to a wide range of learners.
  • Participate meaningfully in cohort and content teams and team meetings.
  • Participate meaningfully in all professional development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
