CNC Programmer - Prototype Manufacturing
Department: Manufacturing / Engineering
Employment Type: Full-Time
In-office role: Millcreek, UT
HUXWRX Safety Company focuses on mitigating human exposure to high velocity events. We accomplish this by building systems that ensure a balance of safety and performance. Our highly committed team is passionate about bringing the best possible products to our end users while providing top-notch customer support.
Our patented Flow-Through technology eliminates the need for weapon modifications and was engineered to deliver superior sound suppression without adversely affecting the weapon system. Adopted by military units, law enforcement, tactical professionals, and recreational enthusiasts the world over, our technology has thoroughly disrupted the suppressor industry while also solidifying its position as the gold standard in suppression systems.
American manufacturing will always be a pillar of our brand, and we proudly transform all our suppressors in Millcreek, Utah. Our team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable professionals is looking for a CNC Programmer to become an integral part of our operations.
Position OverviewThe CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing and supporting CNC programs and machining processes primarily for prototype, R&D, and early-stage product development efforts. This position will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to rapidly produce and refine components while helping establish manufacturable processes for future scaling.
This is not a traditional high-volume production programming role. We are looking for someone adaptable, technically capable, and comfortable working in an environment where priorities evolve quickly, and problem-solving is part of the daily workflow. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced technical challenges, creating first-run processes, and working closely with engineering teams to bring new products from concept to reality.
We are open to candidates with experience across a variety of CAM and programming platforms. Strong machining knowledge and process development capability are more important than experience with any one software package.
Responsibilities- Develop CNC programs for prototype and early-stage development components
- Program and support CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn equipment
- Collaborate directly with engineering teams to support rapid iteration and design refinement
- Create efficient machining strategies for complex and low-volume parts
- Support setup, prove-out, and troubleshooting of prototype machining operations
- Recommend tooling, fixturing, and machining approaches for evolving designs
- Optimize manufacturability while balancing speed, quality, and functionality
- Assist with process development that can transition into scalable production methods
- Work across a variety of materials including titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys
- Support continuous improvement of internal prototype manufacturing capability
- Maintain setup documentation and revision tracking for development projects
- Strong understanding of CNC machining fundamentals and manufacturing processes
- Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, and/or mill-turn machines
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in fast-paced prototype or R&D environments
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and evolving part designs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with multi-axis machining including 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, or mill-turn platforms
- Prototype or aerospace/defense manufacturing experience
- Experience machining titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, or other exotic alloys
- Understanding of DFM/manufacturability principles
- CAD modeling or fixture design experience
- Exposure to additive manufacturing or hybrid manufacturing environments
