Overview

Odyssey House is seeking a Full‑Time Driver. This role is essential to the clients and the organization. The agency promotes from within, so it is common for people who start here to be promoted to full‑time or leadership roles. Pay

$17.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday – Friday. Ideal candidates will be flexible between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays to meet the department’s needs.

Core Responsibilities

You will be one of the first points of contact as clients enter their sobriety journey. This role is vital to their recovery as you provide safe transportation to our facilities, help with luggage, maintain vehicle cleanliness, keep records, and coordinate with other staff to meet client needs. You will learn to hold healthy boundaries, maintain client safety, and encourage clients as they progress toward treatment goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate 14‑passenger vans or buses safely and maturely
  • Transport clients and/or staff from Odyssey House facilities to and from various locations throughout Salt Lake and Northern Utah
  • Interact with clients, vendors, and others
  • Show excellent problem‑solving skills and deliver safe transportation services
  • Communicate effectively
  • Handle logistics efficiently
  • Be organized and punctual
  • Adhere to all staff dress codes
  • Drive and deliver vehicles locally or beyond the area as needed, following all road rules
  • Deliver vehicles to the appropriate destination safely and courteously
  • Ride with or follow another driver to drop off or pick up multiple vehicles
  • Organize travel routes and ensure daily pre‑trip and mileage logs are accurate and timely
  • Communicate via cellular phone as needed
  • Keep the van or bus clean during shift
  • Report mechanical or other vehicle issues promptly to the supervisor
Candidate Qualities

Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Neat appearance
  • Reliable, polite, and self‑motivated
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Safe driving with good vision and hearing
  • Active Utah driver’s license for at least 3 years and satisfactory MVR (no more than 1 moving violation or at‑fault accident in past 3 years, and no drug or alcohol‑related conviction in last 10 years)
  • Eligible to work in the USA
  • Receive flu shot, TB test, and COVID‑19 vaccine (waivers available)
  • One year of sobriety if in recovery

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, drive (or provide alternate transportation), sit and stand for prolonged periods, and perform light to moderate physical activity. Must vacuum vans or buses, bend down, move quickly, and work outside with reasonable accommodation.
