Assistant Professor Of Mathematics

The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach courses in mathematics at the undergraduate level; specifically, a specialization in statistics that allows them to teach upper-level statistics courses. This faculty position, based in the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics is a 10-month academic year position.

Responsibilities include teaching a full-time instructional load (12 contact hours/ week) in areas of expertise within the academic discipline, regular course meetings and instruction, mentoring students, and other teaching responsibilities. All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman or sophomore seminar courses.

Faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities. Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D in a closely related field, minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics, and meeting SACSCOC accreditation requirements. Preferred experience includes instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline and a record of scholarly activity, publications, or creative works.
