Job Summary

The Event Tech Coordinator provides technology support for non‑academic programs and events on campus. The staff member serves as the main contact for faculty, staff, students, and community members when event technology equipment is requested. The position maintains and inventories equipment, works closely with Information Technology and the Assistant Director of Production Services, and helps manage annual contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Event Technology Logistics & Campus Support (50%)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment requests.
    • Maintain equipment in working order and inventory.
    • Coordinate with Information Technology across campus.
    • Provide backup support to the Assistant Director of Production Services; receive reciprocal support.
  • Technical Support in Performance Venues (25%)
    • Provide production support for events in campus venues (audio, lighting, video, staging).
    • Operate equipment: overhead projection, sound systems, video recording, audio/lighting boards, laptops, TVs.
    • Assess requirements, plan, schedule, and execute support.
  • External Contracts (15%)
    • Assist in securing and executing annual contracts.
    • Maintain relationships with external partners.
  • Advisory & Resource Support (5%)
    • Provide referrals and recommendations for off‑site services.
    • Guide Facilities Management on purchase and installation of equipment.
  • Other Duties (5%)
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Required Experience: One year of production experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dante Certification: Level 2 or Level 3.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred Experience: Three or more years of production experience in event technology, audio/visual, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Abilities
  • Manage event design and production from concept through execution.
  • Collaborate within multi‑department environments and manage concurrent projects.
  • Analyze and evaluate technology needs for various event types and venues.
  • Serve as resource and provide guidance on equipment acquisition and installation.
Knowledge
  • Proficiency with Vectorworks or CAD software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or comparable software.
  • Knowledge of QLab, Wireless Workbench, or other wireless frequency utilities.
  • Understanding of signal flow with digital and analog AV devices.
  • Knowledge of theatrical elements and utilities used in event spaces.
  • Basic computer functions and operations relevant to event technology support.
Skills
  • Operation of manlift/genie and related elevated equipment.
  • Sound reinforcement using digital and analog audio consoles.
  • Lighting design and programming with ETC consoles.
