American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Milledgeville, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active GA or compact RN license.

Requirements
  • Active RN license in GA or a compact state currently in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an ED RN
  • Required certifications: BLS, Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR), ACLS, and PALS
  • TNCC and Emergency Nursing national certification are preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in drip management including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
  • Phlebotomy (nurse draw) skills required
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Responsibilities
  • Work in a 22-bed Emergency Department (plus surge beds) at a 140-licensed-bed community hospital in Milledgeville, GA
  • Common diagnoses include chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, hypertension, and mental health presentations
  • Facility is a Chest Pain Center (ECCC Level
    3) and Remote Stroke Center with no trauma designation
  • Average census of approximately 85 patients per day
  • RN patient ratio is 1:3–4 depending on assigned zone
  • 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation: 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Central telemetry monitoring in the ED; nurses read strips independently
  • EMR:
    Epic
  • IV pumps:
    Alaris; medication dispensing:
    Omnicell; monitors:
    Philips
  • Floating may occur within the ED or to a sister ED location approximately 45 minutes away
  • Orientation consists of 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules, followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Support staff on unit includes unit secretaries, CNAs (2 per shift), RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7)
  • PICC coverage provided by IV/VAT team
  • Scrub color for RNs is navy blue
  • Free parking available on campus
  • Unit is described as having strong teamwork and many long-tenured staff members
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted; no radius rule applies — same rate offered regardless of proximity to facility
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following permanent employment before being eligible for a travel assignment
