American Traveler is seeking an RN
- Med/Surg Tele with GA or compact license and at least 2 years of Med/Tele experience for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level 3 Trauma facility.
- 24-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma designated hospital
- Patient population includes acute and chronic disease, post-op surgeries, and comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, with 2-3 CNAs per shift
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Float requirement to all adult med-surg/telemetry units in house, as well as SNU and ER for med-surg holds
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Unit equipped with VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, portable Dynamap vital signs monitors, bladder scanners, portable oxygen, and PCA pain management systems
- Active RN license (GA or compact)
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required
- ACLS and Medical-Surgical national certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele nursing experience required
- Minimum 12 months of core work experience in specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, and heparin drips
- IV insertion and care, central line management experience required
- Wound care, post-op monitoring, and cardiac telemetry interpretation skills required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Provide comprehensive med-surg and telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and post-op patient management
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and support discharge planning and patient education
- Unit supported by CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Central telemetry monitoring supported by dedicated telemetry techs
- Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for one shift each of Thanksgiving (or day after), Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year's Eve or Day
- RTO requests subject to manager approval
- Navy scrubs required for RNs
- Free onsite parking provided
- Unit culture described as busy but team-oriented

- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
