Position: MATERIAL HANDLER

Indmar Marine Engines is seeking a dependable, experienced Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for safely and accurately loading, unloading and moving engines and other materials throughout the facility. Candidate must have a history of good attendance and understand the importance of punctuality and good communication. Work hours are 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Thursday.

Eligible for a $40.00 weekly attendance bonus. A full list of duties is below:

Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY:

Utilizes forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload and move engines/materials within warehouse and production areas. This position is responsible for parts and engine washing, uncrating engines and disposing of dunnage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operates a sit-down forklift to load, unload and move material around the facility.
  • Removes engines from trailer and places in correct area of storage warehouse.
  • Retrieves engines according to OEM orders and loads trucks.
  • Pairs transmissions and stages them on pallets for production.
  • Stacks engines for the overseas container and ensures they are properly loaded.
  • Uses hand/power tools to disassemble engine crates;
    Uses crane/hoist to move engine to rack and properly disposes of crate material.
  • Minor assembly on uncrated engines using hand and power tools.
  • Pressure washes engines and loads and unloads parts washer as needed.
  • Responsible for cycling the garbage truck and making regular landfill trips to empty the truck.
  • Drives Spot Tractor to move and spot trailers and deliver engines and parts to and from different buildings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND

SKILLS:
  • Must be able to safety operator a forklift.
  • Strong working knowledge of hand tools, power tools and overhead crane/hoist systems.
  • Must be able to read customer orders and pull correct product.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work and remain productive under little supervision.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • A minimum of three years’ operating a forklift in a manufacturing environment with a history of safe and accurate work.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Experience driving a semi-tactor trailer is a plus.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Work environment is generally in a warehouse setting which is not heated/air conditioned.
* Some exposure to the outside elements on occasion.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Must

be able to lift 50 pounds.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Safety glasses; rubber boots, apron and hearing protection when pressure washing;
Must wear forklift seatbelt while operating. This position performs hazardous waste management activities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA-40 CFR 265.16) and Department of Transportation (49 CFR). The following tasks include, but are not limited to the generation, handling, labeling, inspection, and emergency response. Properly identify and characterize hazardous waste generated in assigned work areas. Place hazardous waste into approved containers.

Ensure hazardous waste containers are closed except when adding or removing waste, labeled with the words "Hazardous Waste". Marked with appropriate DOT/GHS hazard indicators and their accumulation start dates, along with ensuring that hazardous waste materials are in their proper packing. Conduct and document hazardous waste container inspections in assigned areas. Offering hazardous waste to an approved Treatment & Storage Disposal transportation company.

Act as Emergency Coordinator or emergency response support personnel.
