Banquet Director
Plantation Lakes Golf and Country Club, located in Millsboro, DE, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Banquet Director! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. The Banquet Director is responsible for managing events from the initial inquiry and booking process through planning, execution, and post-event follow-up. This position works closely with the Food & Beverage Director, Assistant Food & Beverage Director, culinary team, banquet staff, and clients to ensure each event is well organized, properly communicated, and successfully executed.
Our facility hosts a variety of events, including weddings, corporate functions, golf outings, holiday parties, celebrations of life, birthday and anniversary parties, community events, and other private functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to banquet and private event inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct tours and meetings with prospective clients and promote our available event spaces, menus, packages, and services.
- Book and coordinate weddings, private parties, corporate events, golf outings, and other functions.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the planning process.
- Prepare event details, banquet event orders, timelines, room layouts, menu selections, and other necessary documentation.
- Work closely with the culinary team to communicate menus, guest counts, dietary restrictions, allergies, service times, and special requests.
- Coordinate with Food & Beverage leadership to ensure proper staffing and operational preparation for each event.
- Assist with banquet sales and marketing efforts to increase event bookings and generate additional revenue.
- Develop relationships with members, residents, local businesses, community organizations, vendors, and prospective clients.
- Assist with promoting banquet offerings through marketing materials, community outreach, social media, and other sales opportunities.
- Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure company and client expectations are met.
- Provide hands-on leadership during events and assist the team wherever necessary.
- Lead, direct, and support banquet servers, bartenders, captains, and other event staff.
- Ensure event spaces are properly set according to floor plans and client specifications.
- Monitor service standards, cleanliness, presentation, and overall guest satisfaction throughout events.
- Address guest or client concerns professionally and promptly.
- Ensure all event charges, additions, and changes are accurately documented and communicated.
- Assist with opening and closing responsibilities for the restaurant and clubhouse as needed.
- Serve as a Manager on Duty when scheduled and assist with normal Food & Beverage operations when necessary.
- Help ensure compliance with company policies, alcohol service requirements, food safety standards, and established operating procedures.
- Maintain organized banquet files, contracts, event calendars, deposits, guest counts, and other event-related documentation.
- Participate in Food & Beverage and operational meetings as needed.
- Follow up with clients after events and help build repeat and referral business.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience in banquets, event coordination, hospitality, restaurant management, catering, or sales. Management or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Candidates should possess excellent communication and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously. The successful candidate must be comfortable working directly with clients while also providing hands-on leadership to the banquet team.
- Experience with event sales, contracts, banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event planning is preferred.
- This is a hospitality leadership position requiring schedule flexibility based on business and event needs. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.
- The Banquet Director should be comfortable transitioning between administrative responsibilities, client meetings, sales activities, restaurant operations, and hands-on event execution.
