Certified Refrigeration Technician Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Inspecting and diagnosing ammonia refrigeration systems for efficiency and safety.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance (PM) tasks to ensure the proper functioning and optimal system performance.
- Systems Expertise: Setting up new refrigeration units, ensuring they are correctly connected to power sources, and working with various systems including motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, control panels, compressors, chillers, and boilers, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480 volts.
- Installation and Modification: Assist with new equipment installations, changeovers, and perform fabrication and welding tasks as needed for modifications or repairs.
- Documentation and Analysis: Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work performed, track parts usage, and participate in root cause analysis to identify permanent solutions for failures.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out Procedures (LOTO) and pumpdown procedures. Adhere to confined space protocols, and OSHA requirements, to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with team members and management staff, and engineers to solve problems, support production needs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience: Typically requires 3-5+ years of multi-craft refrigeration experience with RETA Certifications and experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams is crucial. - Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing ladders or working from heights.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
