Job Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across the facility to ensure compliance with health regulations, industry standards, and company policies. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, work areas, and common spaces; safely handling cleaning chemicals; and following strict sanitation protocols to prevent contamination and support product quality.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs cleaning and sanitizing throughout the facility including production areas, non‑GMP areas, exterior grounds, common spaces, and other locations as needed in accordance with the master sanitation and housekeeping schedule.
  • Maintains sanitation records.
  • Follows company SOPs when cleaning areas and equipment using appropriate sanitation methods and procedures.
  • Assists with the removal of production garbage and debris.
  • Maintains proper documentation of chemical usage in accordance with company requirements.
  • Supports seasonal needs by providing snow removal or applying ice melt on outside walkways as needed.
  • Supports cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, utensils, and machinery, if assigned, to meet health and safety standards and to ensure the prevention of contamination.
  • Follows regulations when disposing of waste and hazardous materials to ensure local, state, and federal environmental compliance.
  • Uses and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure personal safety and hygiene during the cleaning processes.
  • Clean the facility environment using proper tools and approved chemicals.
  • Supports overall operations by performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Attention to Detail:
    Meticulous focus on cleanliness to prevent contamination.
  • Communication & Literacy:
    Ability to read and follow written procedures (SOPs) and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Environmental Adaptability:
    Capability to work in cold, hot, wet, and humid environments.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Ability to use high-pressure washers, foam applicators, and safely handle chemical agents.
  • Time Management:
    Ability to meet strict sanitation windows to avoid production delays.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Understanding of cleaning techniques, chemical safety, and sanitation protocols.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years Experience in sanitation, janitorial, or a regulated food/production environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements

Walking/standing, lifting up to 60 lbs, pulling/pushing up to 60 lbs, sitting, climbing, bending/kneeling, reaching/handling, and gripping are frequently required. Lifting and pulling/pushing up to 60 lbs may occur often. Other physical actions require occasional or rare occurrence.

Environmental Hazards

Noise level above 85 dB, chemical hazards, hot/cold/humid conditions may be present.
