Avionics Technician

Full Time, On‑Site, Millville, NJ 08332, USA.

What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star:

Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio and Autopilot Systems) as well as aircraft systems.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS
  • Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
  • Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations.
  • Work with customers in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
  • Work independently on projects.
  • Any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
Your Education

High school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred. Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

1+ years of experience on Avionics repair or installations is preferred.

Your Initiative

Team players who are self‑motivated and able to perform in a fast‑paced environment with specific deadlines. Capable of working with minimal supervision and dealing with customers.

Your Sense Of Responsibility

Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day. Perform all work in accordance with FAA guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer‑oriented work habits.

Other Particulars

Physical Requirements

Lifts 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending, squatting or sitting. Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Standing for long periods. Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas. Basic computer skills.

Mental Requirements

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines. Troubleshoot, evaluate and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems. Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Avionics Team Leader.

Working Conditions

Hangar environment with extreme temperature variations. Work outside during aircraft runs may occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic;
Pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical equipment;
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices;
Tugs, power carts and other engine‑powered equipment;
Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns;
Personal computer and work order prints.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The hourly rate generally ranges between $39.00 - $49.00. Additional shift differential for alternate shifts. Other forms of compensation include a semi‑annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to HSA.
