Job Description – Reliability Engineer (R&D) Duration: 9+ Months (Contract#W2 Only)

This role supports the development of new life science instruments by ensuring products are reliable, robust, and well‑tested before launch. You’ll work hands‑on with engineering teams to identify risks, run tests, analyze data, and solve reliability issues during product development.

You’ll manage reliability projects, help teams understand technical risks, and communicate clear results and recommendations to engineers and leadership.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and manage multiple reliability testing projects at the same time
  • Identify reliability risks in new product designs and communicate them clearly to teams and leadership
  • Design and run reliability test plans to reduce product risk
  • Lead technical risk discussions using tools like FMEA
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to complete testing
  • Collect, organize, and manage large sets of test data
  • Analyze test results and use data to support reliability decisions
  • Troubleshoot instrument failures and reliability issues
  • Lead root cause investigations and document findings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering or experimental testing and data analysis
  • Strong understanding of reliability concepts such as life testing, failure analysis, and accelerated testing
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to solve technical problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to work in a BSL-2 laboratory environment
  • Willing to prepare blood samples for testing (training provided)
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with fluidic, optical, or electro‑mechanical systems
  • Experience with test automation (e.g., LabVIEW, Arduino)
  • Strong statistical background (Six Sigma tools, DOE, reliability modeling)
  • Experience analyzing large datasets using tools like Minitab, MATLAB, JMP, or R
