Position: PCBA Repair Engineer (Reverse Engineering , without schematics or design documents)

Overview

Job Title - PCBA Repair Engineer (Reverse Engineering, without schematics or design documents)

Job Location - Milpitas, CA

Required Work Experience - 10+ Years

Project Duration - 6 months however can be extended for the right person

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing existing boards/circuits with little or no documentation
  • Tracing signals, components, and power paths manually
  • Low-level electrical troubleshooting
    • Using scopes, logic analyzers, meters to infer design intent
  • Heavy lab work
  • Daily use of:
    • Multimeters
    • Logic analyzers
  • Deep hands-on expertise in PCBA analysis & reverse engineering
    • Ability to analyze boards without schematics or documentation.
    • Build BOMs, identify circuit functions, and trace failures.
  • Board-level troubleshooting experience
    • Diagnose electrical failures and determine root causes.
    • Comfortable working with defective, undocumented parts.
  • Strong proficiency with troubleshooting equipment
    • Logic analyzers
    • Other board diagnostic tools
  • BS in Electrical Engineering + 10+ years experience
Qualifications / Skills
  • Strong expertise in PCBA design analysis, reverse engineering, and diagnosis/troubleshooting to address repair goals
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot defective boards, with or without relevant design documentation
  • Skilled at developing comprehensive board repair plans—including approaches, timelines, and identifying technical dependencies
  • Applying critical thinking to troubleshoot PCBA issues without design documents
  • Proficient in using PCB troubleshooting equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
  • Work with minimum guidance
  • Good track record of on-time delivery
  • Attitude to persevere through tough challenges
  • Good understanding of power supplies and electrical systems will be a plus
  • There might be international travel occasionally
  • Ability to work effectively with both junior and senior-level team members, bringing in a collaborative environment
  • Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders
