Group/Division
With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, KLA enables fabs to ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. The Global Products Group (GPG) creates KLA’s metrology and inspection products. EBeam provides timely information on defects and critical locations on wafers at high spatial resolution, complementing KLA’s inspectors to help understand defects and imperfections and take corrective action in manufacturing.
Responsibilities- Applications Development Engineer roles in its product divisions that design and manufacture inspection & review equipment for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Position based in Milpitas, CA.
- Characterization of new systems and features, including designing and conducting experiments, collecting data, and publishing results and recommendations as applications notes, best known methods or characterization studies.
- Drive product penetration/adoption and process optimization at customer facilities in fabs. Build expertise on KLA equipment and customers’ semiconductor fabrication processes and apply solutions to production problems.
- Provide training to customers and other apps engineers; handle/drive local apps escalation; investigate customer needs/problems and provide solutions; conduct final acceptance and product demonstrations; understand competitive situations, methodologies and performance analyses.
- Report technology development and new applications to Marketing. Support pre-sale and post-sale activities.
- Travel up to 50% on short notice (trips could be 4–8 weeks long). Emphasize teamwork and balance between technical and people skills.
- Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. - Base Pay Range: $97,800.00 - $ annually (note: compensation details vary by location and other factors).
- Strong analytical, experimental design, data collection and interpretation skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in customer environments.
- Team-oriented with strong collaboration and communication abilities.
