What You'll DoThe R&D Manager leads and manages a cross‑functional engineering team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of high‑power products and power modules. This role focuses on power electronics hardware design while driving technical excellence, project execution, and cross‑functional collaboration. The manager plays a critical role in aligning hardware development with system‑level requirements, product roadmaps, and business objectives, while building and scaling the engineering team in Bay Area.

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Set clear goals, provide performance feedback, and support career development and team growth.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team expansion efforts in the Seattle region.
- Provide technical leadership for high‑power power electronics and hardware design, including AC‑DC / DC‑DC converters, control circuits, and protection mechanisms.
- Guide high‑voltage and high‑current designs to ensure performance, efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Review and approve architecture, schematic designs, and key technical decisions.
- Partner closely with firmware, software, mechanical, thermal, and system engineering teams to ensure successful system‑level integration.
- Collaborate with program management and product teams to align engineering execution with schedules, cost targets, and product requirements.
- Act as a technical interface with global teams and stakeholders.
- Oversee schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and design verification for power hardware.
- Ensure effective hardware bring‑up, debugging, and validation using lab equipment (oscilloscope, power analyzer, etc.).
- Drive compliance with safety, regulatory, EMI/EMC, reliability, and environmental testing requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for hardware‑related issues during development and production.
- Establish and improve engineering processes, design standards, and best practices.
- Ensure high‑quality documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and design reviews.
- Stay current with power electronics industry trends, energy efficiency technologies, and renewable energy applications to support long‑term technical strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - 8+ years of experience in power electronics or high‑power hardware design, with prior technical leadership or management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong expertise in power electronics, high‑voltage systems, and control hardware.
- Proven experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and hardware validation.
- Solid understanding of hardware interfaces supporting firmware and software integration (control signals, sensing, communication interfaces).
- Hands‑on experience with debugging, validation, and failure analysis.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced development environment.
