Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Critical Infrastructure Reliability & Uptime
- Own reliability and performance of all mission-critical systems, including power distribution, substations, generators, UPS/CPS, cooling plants, process utilities, and life-safety systems.
- Establish and enforce global standards for redundancy, capacity management, maintenance, testing, and commissioning.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for critical incidents, outages, or near-miss events.
- Define and maintain global Critical Facilities Engineering standards, design guidelines, and operating procedures.
- Own the critical facilities risk register, including single points of failure, deferred maintenance risk, and capacity constraints.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, OSHA, local AHJs, and internal governance).
- Provide technical governance and performance oversight of IFM partners delivering critical facilities operations and maintenance.
- Define SLAs, KPIs, and audit mechanisms for preventive maintenance, emergency response, and system availability.
- Act as escalation authority for high-risk operational decisions affecting uptime or safety.
- Own the long-term capital roadmap for critical infrastructure upgrades, renewals, and expansions.
- Partner with Finance and Facilities Leadership on Cap Ex prioritization, business cases, and risk-based investment decisions.
- Ensure assets are managed through full lifecycle planning, including end-of-life strategies and redundancy planning.
- Provide engineering leadership for new builds, expansions, major retrofits, and capacity upgrades affecting critical systems.
- Ensure rigorous design review, FAT/SAT, integrated systems testing (IST), and commissioning before turnover.
- Approve deviations from standards based on documented risk assessments.
- Partner with CREW and site leadership to ensure BCP, ERP, and emergency power strategies are robust and tested.
- Lead readiness for utility failures, extreme weather events, and regional disruptions impacting critical infrastructure.
- Lead and develop a global Critical Facilities Engineering function (directs and/or matrixed).
- Establish training, certification, and succession planning for critical facilities expertise.
- Serve as the internal subject-matter authority for critical infrastructure decisions.
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Facilities Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 12+ years of experience in critical facilities, data centers, fabs, labs, or mission-critical environments.
- Proven leadership of high-risk infrastructure operations with zero-tolerance for unplanned downtime.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, emergency generation, UPS, cooling, and controls.
- Experience governing outsourced or IFM delivery models.
