This role emphasizes metrology development, contamination control, and dynamics/motion control to improve tool performance, stability, uptime, and manufacturability.
- Define system-level requirements, subsystem interfaces, and technical tradeoffs across optical, mechanical, electrical, controls, and software domains.
- Lead development and validation of metrology solutions for system health, process stability, calibration, and performance monitoring.
- Drive contamination control strategies, including materials, cleanliness, out gassing, and diagnostics aligned with long-term system reliability.
- Own dynamics and motion-control requirements for precision mechanisms, including stability, repeatability, jitter, and closed-loop performance.
- Lead integration, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions from prototype through production support.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to requirements traceability, technical reviews, and roadmap planning.
- MS or PhD in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
- Typically PhD with 5+ years or MS with 8+ years of relevant experience in complex system design, integration, or validation.
- Experience with in-situ diagnostics or metrology for vacuum, plasma, contamination, or source-performance monitoring.
- Experience with contamination control, out gassing evaluation, or optics/chamber cleanliness management.
- Experience with precision motion control, synchronized trajectories, jitter analysis, or closed-loop controls.
- Familiarity with MBSE, SysML, or requirements tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
- Ability to travel in US and internationally up to 25% of the time, if business need arises.
- Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years;
Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years;
Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years - Experience with semiconductor equipment, vacuum-based systems, metrology, precision mechanisms, or other multidisciplinary tools.
- Strong analytical capability using Python, MATLAB, and statistical methods for modeling, DOE, and performance analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead cross-functional technical problem solving.
