Job Description & How to Apply Below
Role Overview
Picture a typical morning: you’re embedded alongside design engineers, opening Relia Soft to refine a Block Sim reliability model for a critical electro-mechanical subsystem. By mid-morning, you’re validating life distributions in Weibull++ from last week’s accelerated stress tests. After lunch, you sit in a design review, advising on component selection and test strategies to harden the design against real-world stressors. You close the day by logging issues in XFRACAS, prioritizing fixes, and documenting improvements—sometimes pausing to prepare a succinct update for senior leadership.
On occasion, you’ll jump on an early or late call to collaborate with global teammates. Core hours run 8am–5pm.
- Build, edit, and verify Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) for complex equipment using Relia Soft tools, including Weibull++, Block Sim, and XFRACAS.
- Assess materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques from a reliability perspective to identify improvement opportunities.
- Consult with design engineering on component selection, application constraints, and test strategies for electronic and electro‑mechanical systems.
- Define reliability targets and requirements for components and systems to meet company goals, customer expectations, and applicable agency standards.
- Develop accelerated life tests and novel analytical approaches to surface early failure mechanisms in new products, packaging, processes, and designs.
- Recommend design and verification methods, including statistical process control (SPC), to achieve required reliability levels.
- Propose design or formulation changes that increase system and process robustness.
- Participate in reliability planning, design reviews, and cross‑functional working sessions; partner closely with groups such as the e‑beam design team.
- Drive test execution, improvement actions, and rigorous documentation; present key findings to leadership when appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering strongly preferred (Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, or related).
- 5+ years of hands‑on, practical engineering experience; depth of experience is valued over advanced degrees.
- 5–10 years in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or equivalent engineering roles, with interest and capability to deepen as a Reliability Engineer.
- Grounding in reliability fundamentals: failure physics, materials science, electro‑mechanical design, accelerated testing, and test design principles.
- Experience with reliability planning artifacts such as FMEA, reliability block modeling, and structured test plans.
- Background working on large, complex capital equipment and modeling critical subsystems.
- Familiarity with Relia Soft (Weibull++, Block Sim) or similar reliability applications is advantageous.
- Clear, persuasive communicator able to influence without direct authority and to guide design teams toward reliability improvements.
- Confidence presenting to executives (support provided as needed).
- Collaborative, proactive, and data‑driven mindset; actively seeks information and partners closely with cross‑functional teams.
- Understanding of applied failure physics and manufacturing reliability; strong grasp of underlying mechanisms.
- Industry background may vary (e.g., aerospace, automotive, etc.); experience with e‑beam/semiconductor capital equipment is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with e‑beam tools, Relia Soft applications, and other reliability modelling software is beneficial.
