Director of State Government & Stakeholder Affairs
Location: Milpitas, CA (Remote or in-person at Payactiv’s Milpitas headquarters).
Travel: 30‑50% national travel required.
Reports to: Head of Public Policy.

Responsibilities- Develop and execute Payactiv’s engagement strategy for state policy organizations and national political associations.
- Build and maintain relationships with state attorneys general offices and governors’ policy teams.
- Serve as the company’s on‑ground representative at conferences, fly‑ins, and policy meetings nationwide.
- Partner closely with Public Policy, Legal, Compliance, and Communications teams to align external engagement with legislative strategy.
- Identify sponsorship, speaking, and partnership opportunities aligned with company priorities.
- Track emerging state trends and brief internal stakeholders on political and regulatory developments.
- Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and event summaries.
- 7 to 12+ years of experience in state government relations, public policy, attorneys general engagement, or national political associations.
- Direct experience working with or at organizations such as NGA, AGA, NCSL, CSG, DLCC, RLCC, state legislatures, the CFPB, or similar institutions.
- Strong bipartisan relationship‑building skills and comfort operating in politically diverse environments.
- Familiarity with financial services, fintech, labor policy, and/or consumer protection issues preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to represent Payactiv with credibility and diplomacy.
- Highly organized and self‑directed, with the ability to manage travel and shifting priorities.
- Comfortable with high travel volume and in‑person engagement.
