Full-Service Hotel Experience

Job Summary

Directs and ensures the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function to include recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, and the execution of employee relation activities, providing each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service and business objectives.

Essential Job Functions
  • Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient employees.
  • Develop, implement, and administer policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel to ensure a positive and productive employment environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources.
  • Supervise EEOC and California Civil Rights Department (CRD) programs.
  • Control the administration of wages and benefits to ensure accurate and equitable application.
  • Approve all required Human Resource forms such as Personnel Authorizations and Employment Requisition s.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with Direct Reports to ensure their ongoing development.
  • Maintain open channels of communication for all levels and monitor employee relations.
  • Aid in establishing a positive relationship between all employees, supervisors, department heads & General Manager.
  • Responsible for monthly rallies, annual awards/recognition, and other events that need to be planned.
GENERATING TALENT
  • Proactively identify and develop talent within the organization.
  • Hire the best people available from inside and outside the hotel, ensuring diversity and balance of skills.
  • Develop and maintain departmental orientation and training certification programs.
  • Manage employee progressive discipline procedures fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure regular ongoing communication and recognition throughout the organization.
ORGANIZATIONAL LEADER
  • Actively pursue learning and self-development to enhance personal, professional, and business growth.
  • Enlivens the culture within the hotel.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTION
  • Supervise, coordinate, and motivate the activities of the department staff.
  • Monitor safety programs and compliance with California reporting requirements.
  • Maintain all hotel personnel records and Human Resources files with confidentiality.
  • Ensures the prompt and proper submission of all corporate, divisional, and governmental reports as required.
Qualifications Experience
  • High School diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years hotel management experience of Department Head or above.
  • Marriott brand experience highly desired.
  • Full-Service Hotel Experience.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Effective communication with all employees and representatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of California Wage Orders, meal and rest break compliance, and California-specific leave laws.
  • Basic mathematical skills for salary and benefit administration.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Outlook;
    Paycom experience preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an eight-plus hour shift.
