We are seeking a proactive, highly organized, and strategic Materials, Purchasing, and Planning Manager to join our fast‑growing manufacturing and assembly operations team. In this role, you will hold ultimate accountability for our end‑to‑end material flow, ensuring that raw materials and components arrive on time to meet strict production goals while balancing cost optimization with business targets.
Important Location & Relocation InformationThis position is 100% on‑site daily. The role will launch out of our facility in Milpitas, CA. Our plant operations may relocate to or near the Sacramento (SAC) area in the future. Candidates must be fully prepared to work on‑site daily in Milpitas initially and seamlessly transition or relocate to the SAC region when the plant moves. To support this transition, the company will provide a comprehensive relocation package covering standard moving expenses.
Home‑selling or listing transaction costs are excluded from this coverage.
- Oversee the end‑to‑end material flow, ensuring raw materials and components arrive on time to meet production goals.
- Balance optimal inventory levels with budget for each quoted product build and overall business targets.
- Manage purchasing, planning, and inventory; build SOPs and add team members over time to support business growth objectives.
- Lead the implementation of inventory and purchasing control systems and collaborate with the team to implement a new ERP/MRP system.
- Analyze current materials and component purchases, historical usage, and future expectations to aid in procurement and inventory priorities and optimize product delivery lead times.
- Synchronize supply with demand to minimize excess and prevent shortages.
- Execute safety stock policies to maintain a steady workflow.
- Evaluate the supply chain and key vendors along with alternatives to optimize costs and lead times.
- Monitor vendor performance to ensure high delivery compliance.
- Establish cycle‑count policies and audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Optimize inventory carrying costs and manage obsolete or scrap materials.
- Build, coach, and evaluate planning and procurement staff.
- Develop continuous improvement strategies to reduce waste and drive operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading procurement, planning, and materials planning in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAGE) and Material Requirements Planning.
- Experience establishing KPIs in each area of responsibility with action planning.
- Experience with assembly business operations and international sourcing is a plus.
- APICS certification or similar is a plus.
