Equipment Maintenance Technician (Plating/Polish)
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance on plating, wafer cleaning, chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), and metrology tool sets, ensuring optimal performance, resolving tool issues, partnering with engineering, supporting continuous improvement, and preparing documentation for pass‑down meetings.
Essential Functions- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plating, wafer cleaning, CMP, and/or metrology tool sets; ensure tools meet specification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tool issues quickly to maintain uptime.
- Partner with engineering, vendors, and teams to improve tool reliability, reduce MTBF, increase MTTMP, and resolve yield issues.
- Prepare data and documentation for daily/weekly pass‑down meetings.
- Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, manuals, and repair guides.
- Recommend improvements or changes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Respond to inquiries from team members, managers, or departments.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
– Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in electronics, industrial manufacturing, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Two years of hands‑on experience in equipment maintenance in the semiconductor or high‑volume manufacturing industry.
- Strong foundation in pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
- Hands‑on experience servicing plating, wafer cleaning, CMP, and/or metrology tool sets using hand tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on semiconductor tools and tool sets.
- Read complex schematics, mechanical drawings, vacuum diagrams, flow charts, OEM manuals, and tool guides.
- Use Microsoft Office applications.
- Follow written or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of stakeholders.
- Work productively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, as well as clean‑room protocols.
- Resolve equipment maintenance issues quickly and efficiently.
- Organize and manage time effectively.
- Apply problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Analyze critically and think logically.
- Adapt and prioritize tasks flexibly.
Works 6:00 PM–6:00 AM Friday to Sunday and every other Thursday. Operates in a Class 100 ESD‑sensitive wafer manufacturing facility, wearing a cleanroom suit (hood, gloves, safety glasses, booties, mask). May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, fumes, gases, loud noise, and moving mechanical parts. May work in close proximity to moving parts, crawl spaces, shafts, or other confined areas. Typically stands, walks, bends, twists, crawls, and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
