Associate Test Engineer 1
We are seeking an Associate Test Engineer 1 to support optical assembly operations within a manufacturing environment. This position will focus primarily on hands-on assembly of optical and electromechanical subassemblies used in precision equipment.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable using basic hand tools, and has previous assembly experience. Optical or semiconductor experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, robotics, or PCB assembly experience may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on assembly of optical and electromechanical subassemblies.
- Build lens assemblies and light-source components used within precision equipment.
- Use basic hand tools to assemble and secure components according to established procedures.
- Follow detailed work instructions, manufacturing procedures, and quality requirements.
- Perform mechanical assembly tasks with attention to alignment, fit, and workmanship.
- Work safely and effectively in a cleanroom environment.
- Maintain accurate production and assembly documentation.
- Communicate assembly issues, questions, or concerns to team leads and engineering personnel.
- Work collaboratively with an experienced manufacturing team.
- Learn and follow site-specific optical assembly processes and procedures.
- Support other assembly activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma with approximately 3–4 years of relevant assembly experience; or
- Associate degree in a technical field with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Fresh technical college graduates may also be considered if they demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Hands-on assembly experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience using basic hand tools.
- Ability to work carefully with small components and perform detail-oriented assembly.
- Ability and willingness to work in a cleanroom for most of the workday.
- Comfortable wearing cleanroom garments for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Physical / Work Environment Requirements
- Most of the work will be performed inside a cleanroom, except during scheduled breaks and lunch.
- Must be comfortable working in a temperature-controlled environment without normal outdoor exposure during the workday.
- Must be comfortable wearing cleanroom gowns for extended periods.
- Position involves lifting; although the stated requirement is up to 50 lbs., the manager indicated that typical items are expected to be no more than approximately 20 lbs.
- Must be comfortable performing hands-on assembly work for extended periods.
