Software Engineer- LabVIEW

Overview

We are searching for the best talent to join our Vision team as a Staff Software Engineer (LabVIEW) located in Milpitas, CA. At Johnson & Johnson, we develop the next generation of smarter, less invasive, and more personalized vision treatments, addressing needs from pediatric to aging eye care.

• Lead embedded software architecture, design, and development for safety‑critical medical device applications.
• Develop code as part of larger projects, evaluate options and implement best approaches.
• Adhere to end‑to‑end software/firmware development life cycle: requirements, design, coding, unit testing, system integration, and release.
• Perform troubleshooting to resolve system, hardware, and software issues, performing data analysis to identify root causes.
• Oversee development and deliverables from outsourced vendors.
• Serve as subject matter expert in areas of competence.
• Apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day‑to‑day interactions.

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 4 years, or Ph.D. with 2 years, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience with LabVIEW RT or LabVIEW FPGA Modules; FPGA experience using LabVIEW and National Instrument hardware is mandatory.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, testable, and maintainable embedded software/firmware.
• Experience with hardware/software integration and issue resolution.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW under Windows or Linux.
• Experience with software development best practices: source control, requirement and design documentation, code review, and release management.
• Experience with at least one full commercial product release cycle.
• Ability to work in cross‑functional teams, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external collaborators in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience in FDA‑regulated industry.
• Experience with Python, UML, C#, or Qt.
• Experience with RTOS and hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS485, TCP, UDP.
• Experience in board bring‑up.
• Experience with motion/servo control, boot loader, camera ISP.
• Proficiency in Windows API, DLLs, and interfaces.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops and Agile development.
• Rapid prototyping experience.
• Ability to read and understand PCB schematics.
• Experience with signal/image processing and computer vision.
• Strong familiarity with LabVIEW Object‑Oriented Programming (LVOOP).
• LabVIEW Professional
  
  Certifications:
  
  Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD), Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA), or LabVIEW Associate Developer.

Ability to travel up to 10%.
