Teacher Mentor and Elementary Instructional Coach - .6 FTE

Job Summary:

Milton‑Freewater School District is seeking a dynamic and experienced Teacher Mentor and Instructional Coach to support the professional growth of our teaching staff. This role combines mentoring and coaching duties to help teachers, particularly in implementing best practices for working with English Language Learners (ELLs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional strategies, curriculum development, and professional development, with a focus on enhancing educational outcomes for all students.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mentorship: Provide individualized support and guidance to new and experienced teachers, helping them navigate instructional challenges and enhance their teaching practices.
  • Instructional

    Coaching:

    Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies, with a particular focus on English Language Learners, ensuring that all students receive high‑quality instruction.
  • Professional Development: Design and lead professional development sessions that address the needs of the teaching staff, particularly in areas related to ELL strategies, classroom management, and curriculum alignment with standards.
  • Classroom Observation and Feedback: Conduct regular classroom observations, offering constructive feedback and modeling best practices to improve instructional effectiveness.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist teachers in developing lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and incorporate differentiated instruction techniques for diverse learners, including ELLs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with administrators, department heads, and other instructional staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment within the school.
  • Data Analysis: Help teachers analyze student data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes, particularly in the area of language acquisition and achievement for ELLs.
  • Resource Development: Provide teachers with resources and tools to support effective instruction, including materials specifically designed for ELL students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification with a focus on English Language Learners or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with demonstrated success in working with ELL students.
  • Previous experience in a mentoring or coaching role is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of improving student achievement through effective instructional practices.
Compensation

Position starts August 2026. Salary range is $48,288 – $89,058 for 1.0 FTE (depending on level of experience and education). This job is a .6 FTE and is part time, equal to a 95.5‑day contract.
