Pennoni is hiring! In particular, we are searching for a Staff Civil Engineer to contribute to our Municipal and Civil projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Milton, DE. This person will have the opportunity to work on a variety of Civil Engineering projects, including Water/Wastewater and Water Resources.
This person will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks depending on their skill set; this includes (but is not limited to) working on the design / planning for wet utility systems (i.e.: water distribution & treatment, sanitary sewer conveyance, and wastewater treatment). Typical tasks include hydrologic & hydraulic [H&H] modeling, stormwater planning, drainage / erosion & sediment control [E&SC] design, plan reviews, code review, feasibility studies, permitting, and report preparation.
In terms of advancement, Pennoni offers two paths for career growth (Technical Manager or Project Manager career tracks).
Primary Responsibilities- As part of one of our most successful Civil Engineering groups in the Region, you will be tasked to support and manage a variety of projects for multiple clients in Delaware and eastern shore area of Maryland.
- Contribute to water infrastructure capital projects: planning, design, permitting, inspection & construction administration for production, treatment, distribution, and storage.
- Contribute to sanitary sewer collection and conveyance projects: planning, design, permitting, for pump stations, collection, conveyance, and treatment)
- Perform regulation interpretation and prepare feasibility studies, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Design & detail of site layout, grading, roadway, and utilities.
- Design & detail stormwater management [SWM]: hydrologic & hydraulic, erosion control, etc.
- Utilize advanced understanding of ordinances / regulations (local, state, & federal) as well as the relevant permitting process(es) to ensure compliance.
- Engage with regulatory agencies.
- Manage all aspects of project efforts and interface with clients.
- Nurture existing client relationships as well as developing new clients.
- Mentor junior-level staff.
- Provide quality control of staff design & reports.
- Prepare proposals and track project budgets for profitability.
- Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Environmental, or a related discipline).
- 4+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with design projects.
- PE license in DE and/or MD.
- Project Management experience on multi-discipline projects is preferred.
- Experience working on land development and infrastructure improvement projects; expertise with Publics Works Infrastructure / wet utilities is a plus!
- Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, GIS, analytical programs, etc.); experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D as well as Hydro

GEMS, ArcGIS, and/or HEC-RAS is a plus! - Proficiency on standard office software applications:
Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc. - Proven ability to look at the "Big Picture" as well the project goals in order to coordinate various design disciplines accordingly.
- Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
- Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
