Job OverviewAdult Basic Education/GED Instructor responsible for delivery of instruction in Math/Science, Reading‑Language Arts and Social Studies through a blended instructional model. This position is not a telework position and must report to the FDC office in the served area.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and conduct classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement.
- Supervise inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
- Ensure order and discipline in the classroom, continually evaluate student progress, and administer grades and tests.
- Counsel and advise individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
- Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator’s Certificate. Non‑certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire; the Professional Certificate must be obtained before the temporary certificate expires.
- Official transcripts required if selected.
Annual base: $51,500.02. Additional incentives: $1,499.94 annually for master’s degree holders; one‑time $1,000 hiring bonus for possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate.
