Brief Description
The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The IC&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, calibration, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems. Santa Rosa is a nominal 245 MW, natural gas‑fueled facility consisting of one GE 7FA.03 gas turbine in combined cycle with a GE steam turbine located in Pace, FL.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and repairs the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), plant or distributive control systems, instrument loops, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, level probes, and repairs electrical system control malfunctions of equipment such as transformers, relays, switches, control, generator monitoring and control systems, medium and high voltage distribution systems and monitoring devices.
- Installs new electrical equipment as required.
- Properly uses electrical test equipment and other similar tools.
- Performs maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, performing preventative or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance; writes, submits and clears corrective work orders for approval.
- Initiates purchase orders, coordinates with and directs outside contractors as required to ensure completion of position responsibilities.
- Performs 480 V and high voltage switchyard basis electrical systems maintenance and/or supervises outside contractors in the performance of such work, including the development of work scope and bid analysis.
- Performs preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems.
- Maintains complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.
- Assists in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability; assists in physical inventories.
- Participates in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
- Inspects, repairs, installs and removes all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries.
- Conducts troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and turbine control equipment.
- Uses the computerized plant maintenance management system (Maximo) to enter and plan work orders, purchase requisitions, and research and control inventory levels.
- Plans, schedules, and manages the execution of outage projects as assigned.
- Directs contractors as needed for the repair of plant equipment within the IC&E scope of responsibility.
- Fully supports and participates in Plant Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
- Completes other tasks as assigned by the O&M or the Plant Manager.
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.
- Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program and two years of work experience as a technician in a combined cycle power plant desirable; four or more years of work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for the above requirement.
- Experience with DCS, GE Mark VI (MKVI) turbine controls, EX2100e, Siemens T3000 & Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Experience with low, medium and high voltage switch gear and transformers is preferred.
- Must have an understanding of 40
CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations. - Preferred CEMS maintenance/Troubleshooting experience.
- DCS to I/O to field device troubleshooting experience is required.
- Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 V is highly desirable.
- Experience with Maximo corrective maintenance management system.
- Reads, understands and complies with all regulatory and facility safety procedures.
